Teams will build their own twin bed-sized race car and compete for cash prizes in this high octane race that benefits TruLight Youth Village, a residential home for 35 foster children and teens.
Beds for foster kids are at a crucial need in Texas right now. “ In the last year, Texas has lost over 1000 beds due to closures and our area has the highest number of kids put into foster care in all of Texas” says TruLight127 Founder and CEO, Sondra Ajasin. “Most of our kids at TL Youth Village come from, Bexar and surrounding counties. I go sleep at night praying for more beds to give these kids because our foster care system is in crisis. ”
There will be two separate Bed Races:
• The Teen Category (ages 13-18)
• The General Race (ages 19+)
The first two teams to cross the finish line will receive cash prizes sponsored by local businesses; the third prize up for grabs — The “Golden Bed Pan” goes to the team who’s been voted by the general public as the Best Themed-Entered Bed.
