Foster Parent Pre-Service Training
Becoming a foster parent takes more than completing a checklist. It means learning to understand the story behind a child's behavior, create felt safety, build connection, work alongside families and professionals, and care for children in ways that recognize the impact of trauma. Rooted & Ready isn't about checking boxes. It's about helping you feel prepared when a child actually walks through your door.
Rooted & Ready is TruLight127 Ministries' pre-service training pathway for foster and adoptive families. Our training incorporates Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) and Trauma Competent Caregiving, giving families practical tools they can use long after licensing is complete.

New families always begin with R&R 101: Welcome to the Journey.
Welcome must be completed before attending another instructor-led Rooted & Ready class.

Every TruLight foster family starts here.
Welcome to the Journey is your introduction to fostering with TruLight127. We'll talk about what foster care really looks like, the licensing process, your role as a foster parent, the children and families we serve, and what you can expect along the way.
You'll also learn about TruLight's approach to caring for children from hard places and receive your Rooted & Ready Training Roadmap so you know exactly what comes next.
R&R 101 must be completed before attending R&R 102–108.

STEP 2 💻 Learn at Your Own Pace
Once you've completed Welcome to the Journey, your next step is to join our private Rooted & Ready group for TruLight pre-licensed families.
This will become your home base throughout the licensing process. Inside you'll find your required training links, upcoming Rooted & Ready classes, self-paced courses, EBI, CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, resources, reminders, and opportunities to connect with other families walking the same journey.

Group membership is limited to families who have completed Welcome to the Journey and begun the TruLight licensing process. Membership requests are reviewed by TruLight staff.
